Since the beginning of time, men has wanted to fly. In the 1780s, two brothers Jacques and Joseph Montgolfier, paper manufacturers in France, discovered that when a small paper ballon was filled with hot air, it would float up to the sky.

The brothers reportered this discovery but not one believed them. So they made
a larger ballon about 100 feet in circunference. They filled this ballon with smoke and let it go in a public space. It rose and floated for 10 minutes. Frightened observers thought it was an evil spirit. When it fell to the ground, they tore it to shreds.

A few months later, the brothers stand up another ballon. This carried a duck, a rooster, and a sheep. The animal landed safety.

Then people began going up to short ballon rides, and man fullfilled his dream of getting off the ground.
